Manhattan is an island of 58.8 kilometers ² and is divided into two business districts, one in Midtown and one in Downtown. Both have the characteristic silhouettes of skyscrapers. Almost all of Manhattan has a square street grid. The north-south roads are called 'Avenue' and the West-East called the 'streets'. From the southern end of Manhattan to the north is Broadway, a road that does not follow the rest of the street grid.
