Antarktisk vikval (Balaenoptera bonaerensis) framför isberg i Antarktis

Minke whales are small baleen whales called rorquals, grouped with blue, fin, sei, humpback and Bryde's whales, all pleated whales that can expand their mouths when feeding. Antarctic minkes were split from northern minke whales and established as a separate species. Antarctic minkes migrate to Antarctic shores and pack ice areas for summer feeding. 'Type A' Antarctic killer whales appear to specialize in hunting Antarctic minke whales. (Fotograf: Steven Zeff)
