Down House, outside of London, is the home of Charles Darwin and the place where he worked out his important theories of natural selection and evolution. His suggestions were considered radical at the time, particularly from the religious contigent that opposed the idea that humans descended from apes. Down House, where Darwin spent the last 40 years of his life, is an excellent museum today, with many Darwin artifacts. It is also a reconstruction of what the Darwin family home was like in the 19th century. (Fotograf: Steven Zeff)
