About

Azote is a communications agency specialising in science communication and outreach. We transform complex knowledge into clear communication that engages and creates impact. Our driving force is that communication should contribute to sustainable transformation and long-term change.

Knowledge that Inspires Change

We work to create bridges between research and society.

Bringing research-based knowledge to society's most important target groups

We help researchers communicate their research to different target groups, such as decision-makers and business leaders, who need the knowledge to make informed and sustainable choices.

Turning science into business value for companies

By supporting companies in integrating sustainability into their operations, we enable them to create positive impact while strengthening their competitiveness. At Azote, we believe that inspiring and relevant communication has the power to change the world.

Azote's history

Azote’s founders, Jerker Lokrantz and Robert Kautsky, met through a shared interest in photography and how images have the power to convey larger messages. On a photo trip to West Africa, they got an idea to share images that reflect the interaction between humans, nature and society. One summer night by a campfire in Mali, they decided to start a company, and the name Azote was the first thing that came to mind when Robert opened his French dictionary. Azote means nitrogen and makes up 78 percent of the Earth’s atmosphere – that is, the atmosphere that is the prerequisite for all life on Earth.

Since then, the world has changed and we are navigating profound societal shift. Azote is now a full-service agency that helps researchers, universities, civil society and businesses become part of the transition that is necessary in creating a sustainable world — now and for future generations.
